About

With the world facing an unprecedented challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic, people all around the world have been affected like never before. We thank those on the frontlines, from doctors and nurses to sanitation workers, who are doing everything they can to keep the world running as smoothly as possible. We want to help in any way we can — which is why we’re calling on the creators, hackers, and innovators of the world to band together and help those in need.
Just hack away, and let us help you bring your ideas to life!

Schedule

Registration closed. If you had already registered, please check your email for an invitation to the Slack workspace we'll be using.

Tracks

A track is designed for hackers to solve problems in a certain industry, build using a specific technology, or tackle issues in a specific field. During the event, you must choose at least one track for your project, but you are free to choose more than one if you wish.

Community:

With everyone isolated at home, connection and communication with your loved ones is more important and harder to get than ever before. Create projects that help people stay connected, provide resources for others, help local businesses, or control the onslaught of misinformation!

Health:

The healthcare industry and healthcare workers are absolutely vital at this time, along with maintaining personal health and fitness. For this track, hack together products that help at-risk individuals, support healthcare workers, spread information about COVID-19, or help people improve their mental and/or physical health while in isolation!

Productivity:

As millions of people are stuck at home working or studying remotely, they look for help or ways to improve on this new lifestyle. Innovate and help new users get used to the digital environment, replicate previous working/learning experiences, improve work/life balance, or track assignments, tasks, and goals!

FAQs

All participants must follow the MLH Code of Conduct.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where people can work together to innovate, create, and implement ambitious new projects in a collaborative environment. You begin by converting your ideas into reality over the span of 24-72 hours.

Where will this be hosted?

Sigmahacks 2.0 will be completely online! Wherever you are in the world, you can take part in the hackathon!

Who can participate?

We are all about inclusion! We don't have any restriction on age, university affiliation, or nationality.

Do I need a team? What if I don't have a team?

We recommend having a team of up to 4 people, but it is not necessary. If you don't already have a team when you register, we'll be hosting a virtual team-formation activity!

What if I don't know how to code?

Not a problem at all! We will have plenty of mentors and workshops to help you learn how to code and get started.

Are there prizes?

Yes, there will be prizes! Check back on our Devpost closer to the event to see the full list of prizes.
